Here I will tell you a little bit about myself and my journey to becoming a Travel Content Creator!
Who am I?
My name is Kennedy Smith, a 22-year-old Canadian who started her travel journey in 2024.
I grew up in a small town in Northern British Columbia called 100 Mile House. When I was 16, I moved to the Fraser Valley. It was a big change for someone who had always lived in a small town.
Moving to the coast opened so many more opportunities for me than I would have had in the Cariboo. In high school, I discovered some of my favourite classes: sewing, cooking, and woodworking, which taught me practical skills I still use today.
Before I started travelling, I worked as a server at The Italian Osteria & Cheese Bar in Langley, BC, and later as a 2nd Assistant Production Coordinator on Season 3 of the TV series Kung Fu. While those experiences taught me a lot, I knew deep down that I wanted something more adventurous and fulfilling, which is what eventually led me to start travelling.
How I started travelling
When I was little, I loved flipping through my mom’s old photo albums, imagining what it would be like to see the places in those pictures for myself one day. Travel always felt exciting and a little magical to me, even before I ever left home. In 2024, that dream became real when my grandparents told me about an incredible opportunity. A family friend in Germany was looking for an au pair. It felt like the perfect chance to finally explore the world I had always been curious about. I packed up my life in Canada, moved to Europe, and started discovering new places, cultures, and experiences. What began as a leap into the unknown, quickly turned into a passion for travel and sharing the journey with others through Kenventures.
What is Kenventures?
Kenventures started while I was working as an au pair in Germany, earning around €280 a month. With a small budget, I had to learn how to travel smart and find ways to explore Europe without spending a fortune. I became passionate about discovering beautiful places, hidden gems, and unique experiences while keeping trips affordable. Those experiences showed me that you don’t need a huge budget to see incredible places. Kenventures is where I now share the itineraries, tips, and travel ideas I used along the way to help others explore more while spending less.
My travel style
My travel style is all about exploring as much as possible while keeping trips affordable. I love finding hidden gems, scenic viewpoints, unique experiences, and places that feel a little less touristy. I enjoy planning detailed itineraries that help me see the most in a short amount of time while still leaving room for spontaneous adventures. Since starting my travels in 2024, I’ve visited 23 countries, with 20 of them being completely new to me. Some of my favourite places so far have been Kotor in Montenegro, the incredible architecture of Budapest, the snowy landscapes of Finland, and the breathtaking mountains of the Swiss Alps.
Where I’ve travelled
Since moving to Europe, I’ve had the opportunity to explore 23 different countries across the continent. Experiencing so many new cultures, landscapes, and cities in such a short time has completely changed the way I see travel. From coastal towns along the Adriatic Sea to alpine villages in Switzerland and winter adventures in Finland, every destination has taught me something new. These experiences are what inspire the guides, itineraries, and travel tips I share through Kenventures.
Why I Share My Travels
I created Kenventures to show that amazing travel experiences don’t have to be expensive or complicated to plan. When I first started travelling, I spent hours researching routes, budgets, and hidden spots that most people didn’t know about. Now I share everything I learn along the way so others can plan their own adventures more easily and feel confident exploring new places.
