castles of Germany

Germany is filled with incredible castles, from fairytale castles tucked in valleys to ruins along rivers and castles perched high above villages. Some, like Neuschwanstein Castle, were built as royal residences and feel more like palaces, while many along the Rhine were used for defence and toll collection. Each one has its own history, views, and charm.
